Vitor Castilho

I am Vitor Castilho Costa, a philosophy lover and researcher dedicated to understanding the intersections of applied ethics, political philosophy, and the societal impacts of neoliberalism.  Currently completing my master's degree in philosophy at CEFET/RJ in Brazil, my work critically examines the ethical dimensions of political and economic systems, with a focus on justice, education, and human development.

Growing up in Rio de Janeiro, a city known for both its beauty and its social inequalities, I developed a deep understanding of how social conditions impact educational opportunities. From an early age, I realized that education is a powerful tool for transformation, particularly in contexts where structural inequalities are evident. This awareness has motivated me to pursue an academic path that can contribute to building a more just and inclusive educational system.

My research is deeply inspired by the writings of Martha Nussbaum and John Rawls, whose ideas I incorporate into interdisciplinary explorations of comparative politics and Latin American studies. I strive to bridge philosophical inquiry with practical challenges, using these frameworks to critique and reimagine systems that shape global and regional governance.

My mission is to contribute to the global academic community by advancing ethical perspectives that inform and improve social and political systems.

As a coordinator and teacher for many years, I had the privilege of working with many incredible youth groups. This photo was taken at Everest International School, featuring a group of former students I had the honor of teaching during their high school years. The other pictures are from different school events.

As a high school teacher at Rio International School, I had the privilege of leading several exciting projects, including the STEAM Fair, Teaching with Disney, and Learning About Mexico during our International Fair. These experiences allowed me to inspire creativity, cultural awareness, and critical thinking in my students, making learning both meaningful and fun.

International Events

As a teacher, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to the United States for two unforgettable international events. The first was the NHSMUN conference in New York, where I guided my students through an inspiring experience of global diplomacy and debate. The second was a trip to Orlando, where I supervised a course on digital media tools designed for high school students. Both events were deeply meaningful, not only for my personal growth but also for the students, as they provided unique opportunities to learn, connect, and expand their horizons.
